DON'T MOCK MY WORLD TURTLE

When do we talk about the moment in Deadpool 2 when Deadpool shoots the orderly after realizing what they were doing to Russell?

Because as Colossus is strangling him, asking why he killed someone, Wade’s immediate answer is, “They were abusing him. You can tell; you can always tell.”

But the thing is, no one else noticed. And it’s not like Russell’s scars were hidden before that moment. They’re very prominent from the moment he’s onscreen. When I saw the movie a second time I looked to make sure and yes, you can see them the entire time.

Deadpool could tell pretty quickly though. And the question becomes “How often has Wade seen it to be able to immediately pick up on it?”

Followed up by “Why has Wade seen it this often?”

It’s such a brief moment but it stuck with me the rest of the movie and well after it. It’s so informative of Deadpool’s character that I’m surprised I haven’t seen discussion about it anywhere.

For those who do not read the comics, some important info: Wade was canonically HEAVILY abused as a child in the hands of both his parents.

Depending on the run, he was sexually abused by either his mom or his dad and physically abused by his father in others.

He was also abused by the group who developed the Weapon X, so yep, Wade knowing about a child being through abuse is definitely intentional for the movies’ plot. Ryan always made sure to let it be known that Wade has triggers  regarding abuse survivors because this is a very important part of the character’s background;

Wade is a survivor, that’s also why he defended the teenage girl from that stalker in the first movie as well and that’s why he knows the kids from the orphanage were also sexually abused by the nurses from the 2nd movie.

    Deadpool 2 was such a good movie with bad humour, wholesome moral values, cinematic beauty, and beautiful character...
